Title: Victorian Romance Emma: The Second Act

Anime: This season, the production was done by a different studio, Aija-do Animation Works (famous for work on The End of Evangelion and Here is Greenwood), but still directed by Tsuneo Kobayashi. It aired from April 16th to July 2nd, 2007, and has been licensed Stateside by The Right Stuf International (a release date has yet to be announced).

Story: The Second Act picks up a few months after the end of the first season; Emma's working as a maid at a mansion, and trying to forget William. William's going about his business and trying to forget about ...

Eikoku Koi Monogatari Emma: Molders Hen or Emma: A Victorian Romance Second Act continues the story of Emma, a maid in Victorian England who has attracted the attention of William, a young member of the aristocracy who have fallen in love each other, but the complications of a strict social order work to keep them apart and threaten to destroy them and those they hold dear.

The story of Emma is simple but a classic that has been done in virtually every form of media for hundreds of years, from stories like Jane Eyre to James Cameron’s Titanic, while predictable its still a classic that hasa ...

The second season was actually better than the first. It had a few new characters, and although they weren't elaborated upon, I think they gave the show some extra flavor. However, little else changed. The problem remains the same and the romance moves just as slowly. However, I did like how they emphasized more on the class distinctions and the problems that they face or would face. In the first season, it seemed like empty words when they talked about low and high class, in this season, that problem is further defined.

The beginning theme, I'm disappointed to say, was pretty bad. They simply got the ...

I will not write a whole lot as I think the top rated review by Venneh oh so long ago encapsulates everything I feel.

However I will add a few things that are pertinent to me. I began watching this because the concept (manga) is by the same person who does Otoyomegatari (which by god I hope gets an anime in the future). I watched it in rapid succession and it is truly a great show, In my opinion.

Both seasons re great and the trials faced feel real and are enforced by it actually being real not that long ago, as a viewer you can feel ...

Mixed Feelings

Hmmm... to be honest, the ending feels a bit generic for the age/era of the setting.

I know that it's a good thing that the series ended with a happy ending but it feels kinda cheap and fake to me.

It feels like that the story already decided from the beginning and then the author decide to poke between these characters to make the story have more range in depth of drama. I feel that the story should've ended on season 1 so that it could be more realistic.

William character is annoying the fuck out of me. Indecisive cuck throughout the whole story and spreading trouble all ...

Well, Hello

I thought i should stop writing reviews but after watching this anime i had to change my mind.
I have never been so jacked up about an anime like this before.. So i am compelled to write this review down.

So this anime is the sequel and continued story of "Emma - A Victorian Romance" I will remind you in short. It was about a rich guy named William and a commoner girl maid named Emma. They both falls in love at first sight. But the main problem was their classes in society. This anime was set in England.

I want to tell you the truth, i ...

I tried so hard not to binge watch this series, and I did respect that decision, and here I am, finishing it, I wish I could erase my memories watching this, and start all over again, this was such a beautiful story,

-Story (10/10)
A romantic story between 2 people from different classes, set in a world and timeline where one's social class matter the most, They hopefully managed to cross their hardship and helped their love survive, a pretty simple story, but as the plot seemed to progress, also did the twists and problems make strong attendance, In my opening, this show did what most Romance ...

i am happy i found this anime and read some of the manga season 1 was top quality but season 2 was a lot faster rash is a better word for it compared to season 1 and the manga's pace , so fast that some characters were removed and others were empty and shallow or to be more precise emptied to fit the season's number of episodes i bet even without reading the manga some of you can feel that there are a lot of missing bits which shows how bad and rash these adjustments were i don't know why would they do something ...

So if you read my review for Season 1 of Emma: A Victorian Romance, then you would know that I was very displeased after finishing it. However, like I had hoped, the second season proves to be amazing. A lot of the cinematic errors were definitely changed and prove to make this season worth your while. The biggest differences that made the second season so much better than the first would definitely be the incorporation of new characters, more music throughout each episode as well as getting an insight into the internal monologues, specifically in the main character, Emma. Overall the atmosphere of the second ...

First things first. My "reviews" system is explained on a blog entry. Which can be found through my profile.
------

✦Story
So the drama of class differences goes on. Most the time story was quite dark and depressing and sometimes infuriating because of how loving couple has to worry about "social standing" and such things. Full of themselves Aristocrats thinking mighty of themselves and a lot of stupid bickering.

But gotta say, nevertheless it was a very emotional story, did enjoy it a lot. I did enjoy the progression throughout the story. While story goes on a slice-of-life daily tasks, the element of romance and drama was superb. And ...

Please note that this review covers my thoughts of both TV seasons of Emma. That said on with the review.

Set in Victorian-era England, the titular housemaid finds herself falling in love with a member of the wealthy class named William Jones, who is the elder son of a family of merchants. However, their relationship runs into complications due to the differences in social status between Emma and William, with the latter’s family disapproving of their relationship and attempting to push him toward an arranged marriage with another wealthy family.

When many think of maids for anime and manga, they may think of their use as a ...

I immensely enjoyed the second season. It brought in new characters that were interesting and had some good twists to keep the plot lively. The music was still great, the animation was still good for me. Let me tell you, this show's ending is so worth the wait. I loved every second, and the music played during "the scene", as I'll call it to keep spoiler free, was phenomenal.

There were some characters that unfortunately didn't get the happy ending they deserved, but such is life. I, however, didn't dislike these characters like I sometimes do when they get in the way of the main canon ...

-Overview Review for both Season 1 and 2-

This series was enjoyable, and even without the whole over the top anime romance it did a very good job of representing both of their relationships.

What this show did very good was humanization, tone, and characters. This show humanized and made the characters and their thought process insanely relateable (Atleast for me, of course) and even if you disagree with their decisions I felt that I would have atleast thought that strongly, if not done a similar thing. This was expecially well done, because it was never over the top where it felt relatable, but thats because the ...

General review of the 2 seasons

I will start by saying that it is one of the best romances I have seen, better than romances: Kimi ni todoke, Shigatsu, toradora, clannad, etc.
Starting with the setting, for this alone it is interesting. In the series the protagonists have complications to be together and they have their own problems, it is not a boring school romance where the protagonists lack the aforementioned things. Most of the characters matter and are necessary for the evolution of the plot and the interaction is good and not boring at all. And the drama, something that could not be missing in a ...

Mixed Feelings

Preliminary (5/12 eps)

I thought this anime was going to improve in this new season, but in the end I preferred the first season, the plot becomes very confusing and too many coincidences occur. The argument of the first is more balanced.

I think William and Emma are two characters made for each other, that's why I think I would have preferred the two more determined characters to be next to each other, living in the house of the lady from the beginning, for me it would be the appropriate ending.

My opinion I think they unnecessarily lengthen the plot, I would have liked them to delve deeper into Hakim's ...
